Celebrating Spring Together – April 2025 Community Highlights
As spring unfolded across our communities, so did a vibrant array of events and activities designed to bring residents together, support well-being, and build stronger connections.
This month’s initiatives continued our focus on education, social services, and community engagement, with education-themed events leading the way—a total of 30 activities ranging from pre-K readiness to adult learning sessions. Our partnerships with local schools and organizations helped families feel more connected and supported as they prepare their children for success.
Egg Hunts and Easter Fun at Berkdale and Potomac Vista
The season kicked off with some family fun at Berkdale and Potomac Vista, where egg hunts brought out crowds of excited kids (and a few competitive adults)! With colorful decorations, candy-filled eggs, and gift card prizes, these events were a huge hit. One staff member noted, “We had a lot of new residents who hadn’t experienced this event before, and they loved it—it felt like instant community.”
Learning at Every Age – Carver Terrace and Beyond
Education continued to be a major focus this month, especially at Carver Terrace, where residents participated in a “Get to Know Your Appliances” class that was aimed to help residents better understand and maintain common household appliances. The session was paired with a school readiness workshop in partnership with Clearview Elementary. More than 90 residents attended, enjoying snacks and giveaways while learning useful, real-life skills. These events help lay the foundation for academic and household success alike.
Support Where It’s Needed Most
Our teams also prioritized essential services. Berkdale hosted food distribution events that brought fresh groceries to families in need, while financial literacy sessions at multiple sites introduced residents to helpful tools like the Esusu mobile app. Esusu helps renters build credit by reporting on-time rent payments to the major credit bureaus—offering a simple, debt-free way to improve financial standing. It also provides credit education and, in some cases, access to emergency rental assistance. “This is another way I can keep building my credit and stay on top of things,” one resident said after attending a workshop.
Connections That Count
Throughout April, it was clear that small efforts—whether handing out a bag of groceries, hosting a budgeting class, or organizing a family-friendly celebration—added up to meaningful impact. Across all of our events we recognized moments of learning, laughter, and support. These gatherings weren’t just about services or supplies; they were about showing up for one another, strengthening community ties, and making sure everyone feels seen and valued.
As we look ahead to summer, we’re inspired by the momentum and connection building in our communities. A heartfelt thank you to the staff, partners, and residents who make this all possible.
